Brief

This was a college project. We were tasked with producing titles and graphical content for a moving image piece of our choice. I chose to design the titles and interface for the game Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.

Solution

I felt that whilst the original titles and interface design for this game were each in their own way relevant to the style of the game, there was a lack of consistency in the design. I felt it would be better to base the title and interface design on one area of the game.

The game itself is told through the journal of the main protagonist and I felt that as this journal was always with the character, it would be a good base to design from. The title of the game is from a journal entry by the character so I based the title sequence on that, and simply produced it to fit into same time as the original sequence. I continued this theme into the interface design and consolidated all of the in-game menus into this one interface to avoid the need to break immersion. The menu is a radial design intended to make selection quick even with an analogue stick or directional pad.
