In this video for London Commodity Brokers, by Digital Salad, I provided three and a half minutes of animation (starting from 1:20). Having a strong working relationship with Kate at Digital Salad, I was contacted early in this project to consult on animation and graphical elements. This project required a simple graphic style that would explain what LCB do, as well as being quick to produce and easily revised to give the end-client full flexibility.
Martin has proved to be of great value on numerous projects we have undertaken at Digital Salad. He has built on ideas and worked fluidly to help us deliver on tight deadlines.
– Kate Robinson, Director
Working closely with Kate (the director) I storyboarded the animation according to her script. I went away and designed elements, for use in the animation, that would allow for changes in the fastest, most efficient, and cost-effective way possible. This meant that once we had a fully animated sequence, the end-client was able to request changes to things such as text or the colour of characters without having to pay for the entire sequence to be re-animated. This method of production also allowed me to quickly and easily make changes to produce a copy of the sequence for use in a Chinese version of the video.
I was also consulted on the shooting of a scene where the camera moves from the office into a map on the wall, starting the animated part of the video. I then created and added these elements into the video, allowing it to blend seamlessly into the animation.
